We’re SafetyNet • Works, a collective of Trust & Safety professionals who believe that knowing how to keep platforms safe shouldn’t be a trade secret.

And that the best way to share that knowledge is by working together.

Decentralized doesn’t have to mean going it alone.

No single Trust & Safety professional can do it all. By pooling our talents together, organizing and operationalizing our resources, and collaborating on solutions for clients, we do more good for users and platforms than we ever could on our own.

At SafetyNet • Works, we’re solving shared problems across platforms of all types and sizes every day. It’s both a collaborative consultancy and a net•work (get it?!) for platforms and consultants to find each other.

SafetyNet • Works was founded by Nick Tapalansky (that guy down there). He’s going to stop talking in the third person though, because that’s kinda weird.

I started in Trust & Safety as a content moderator way back in 2016. Since then I’ve had the privilege to be an Operations Lead, a Lead Program Manager, and now a Senior Director overseeing Safety & Support for a portfolio of social and web publishing brands. Tumblr, Twitter, and MediaLab are some of the places I’ve called home.

I’ve dipped into disciplines all across the Safety space including policy development, content moderation, S&O, child safety, safety by design, safety engineering, and regulatory compliance. All the fun resume details are over on LinkedIn, but the tl;dr is that I love combining the best T&S folks in the world with agile processes and scalable operational structures that inspire creative problem solving to keep people safe. For me, SafetyNet•Works is an exciting and impactful way to encourage open borders for Trust & Safety expertise alongside some of the best Trust & Safety pros out there, working together to push our collective mission forward.

SafetyNet • Works is where I suspect the future of Trust & Safety is headed. As more Safety pros move into the freelance space, we need a way to coordinate, partner, and support each other as much as we support our shared mission. By creating a scalable system for operational collaboration outside of our respective companies, I believe we can maximize the good we can do for platforms and their users.
